TIP-TOE  from the Equilibration-series

70x100cm, 2003, acryl on canvas.

A female is sitting on a green chair. Her toes just reach the floor. The position is  a little bit out of the middle of the painting. The figure is placed on the diagonal. All the other directions are vertical, but  important, with slight deviations. This causes a lot of  tension in the pictureWe look along with the woman but we can’t see what she is looking at. What we do see, is the unstable position of the chair and we become aware of the unstable position of the woman. The chair only has three of its legs standing on the floor and these are standing on an edge. What is the function of the  rope on the left? Will it be an escape in case the chair topples down?
